About Me

For over 25 years I have taught primary aged children and early secondary in both the private and state sector and have worked with children ranging from 'gifted' to SEN, including dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and autism. I have also many years experience of tutoring and home- schooling. I am a mother of 2 children. I am kind, caring and enthusiastic and have endless patience and understanding.

A parent reviewed my work and you can see the full write up on my facebook page and in the reviews left by parents below. 'Caroline is simply an outstanding tutor and she's transformed our child. I am so grateful for the support she provided for our daughter. Caroline carefully built a really supportive, tailored approach that built confidence and knowledge. Today our daughter is a confident mathematician. This is a testament to Caroline's incredible work.'

WHAT DO PARENTS SAY?

"Caroline is simply an outstanding tutor and she's transformed our child! I am so grateful for the support she provided for our daughter. By year 6, maths was a feared and loathed subject, with every test worse than the last and we simply didn't have the knowledge to help. Caroline carefully built a really supportive, tailored approach that built confidence and knowledge. Today our daughter is a confident mathematician, who confesses to loving algebra, aced her maths GCSE mocks and enjoys her maths lessons. This is a testament to Caroline's incredible work. Thank you for everything!"

- Mrs J Bland, Northallerton

"Caroline is a wonderful tutor. Really kind and patient whilst extremely knowledgeable and supportive of both the pupil and the parents. We asked Caroline to provide 1:1 tuition to our son to further develop his skills and aptitude and reach the best of his ability. Our son achieved greater depth in all his subjects and recently achieved a gold certificate in the Maths Challenge. We believe Caroline was instumental in this. Not many children 'enjoy' a further dose of education after school but our son often came back saying I actually really enjoyed that and the time went quickly. We would highly recommend Caroline. We have her on speed dial ready for secondary."

"My daughter’s confidence in maths was low and Caroline’s approach has been superb. She conducted a thorough review, put in place a really clear programme of learning. However, it’s Caroline’s patient, thoughtful teaching methods which have brought a pleasure to learning maths and helped my daughter enjoy the subject. Can’t recommend highly enough!"

"Caroline is great. She has brought our child so much confidence with reading, writing and maths. She has patience and understanding and we can really see our child has flourished because of her. She's very friendly and our daughter enjoys and looks forward to her lessons with her."

Em Long, Ellerton

"My daughter reached year 5 and it was clear that she was struggling with her confidence and ability in maths. With Caroline's dedicated support our daughter has been transformed from a girl who cried at the thought of maths to someone who looks forward to her maths lessons. This tremendous turnaround is entirely down to Caroline's approach; she takes the time to work through areas of concern, putting in place learning techniques that our daughter understands and can use and most importantly building her confidence. The transformation is incredible! Her maths test last week saw her achieve top marks with 92% but most importantly she is happy and not anxious.."

- Joanne, Melsonby

"If you are looking for a private tutor I would highly recommend Caroline, she's been tutoring my 6 year old son nearly a month now and is brilliant, a lovely lady who my son loves to sit down and learn with. The learning he does is fantastic and having that extra hour of 1 to 1 time is helping him massively and we can already see an improvement. I was starting to get nervous about him with his SATs at the end of his school year especially with reading and writing so I messaged Caroline to see if she could help and with a very quick response he now has weekly lessons and is doing brilliantly. So a massive Thank you to Caroline and for anybody needing that little extra help I couldn't recommend enough."

This is a message I received from a parent having had their first parents' evening at secondary school.  I taught this child for 2 years through years 5 and 6.

I have had C's first year 7 Parents' evening tonight and wanted to share that his maths teacher called him a phenomenal mathematician - which really blew me away. When I told C he said - think I used to cry over maths. Thank you Caroline for your support and encouragement and teaching....clearly it's paid off. Amanda.
